I captured this amazing Short Toed Eagle during the lockdown of 2021, north of Gaucin in Andalucia, Spain. There were many eagles up above me and also at my eye level as I admired them from my own vantage point. I admired them for their ability to fly high, above the world, they don’t know what is going on in the world! Seemingly no restrictions on them! Such freedom! They, the predators, seeking their prey - who are their predators? What a view they must have from up there! I did feel threatened by them - they filled my heart with a combination of fear and excitement. Hard to tell the difference between the two. At one moment, there seemed to be 100 of them up there looking down on me, swooping and swirling around, getting closer!

I felt this capture was particularly poignant at the end of a long year of restrictions in all of our lives - In this edit, I brought some colour and drama into the final edit to represent the surreal nature and drama of what was going on in our lives during 2020 & 2021. There is also light and hope in this image and for me it represents the desire for freedom, movement, perspective, understanding and relief.

They provide very useful tools for planning, for colour checking, showing to clients, creating schemes, to fully appreciate the quality, style and texture of this extraordinary aluminium print.
