THE STORY
NORTH OF AFRICA captures a powerful confluence — a moment where geography, history, and atmosphere meet. Photographed in October 2021 in Andalucía, Spain, this piece reflects a world in flux, and invites the viewer to look beyond their immediate horizon.
It depicts the Straits of Gibraltar at dusk — where the northern tip of Morocco stretches toward the Rock of Gibraltar, and where Europe and Africa appear to reach out across the water. The low evening light lends the scene a hazy, golden mystery, evoking a timeless space between continents.
Printed on gold-coloured brushed aluminium, the light reflects and deepens depending on your viewpoint, adding warmth, movement, and intrigue to the piece. The dark frame draws your gaze into the glowing horizon, anchoring you in both place and possibility.
