THE STORY
NEW YORK No 1 was captured in May 2024, during my first-ever trip to New York — aged 56. It was the beginning of a longer journey, a road trip from New York to New Orleans, but the time in the city left a powerful impression. I hope to return soon, perhaps even to exhibit this piece there.
At first glance, this image is bold and graphic — symmetry, scale, contrast and clean lines. But it also asks for a moment of contemplation. There’s a particular satisfaction in its construction, and something deeper at play — an invitation to consider the lives, systems, and experiences unfolding within the stacked forms of a high-rise city. The piece is part of the DARKNESS & LIGHT collection, and feels both grounded and expansive — an architectural echo with emotional depth.

Miniatures are the smallest edition of each piece — open edition 21.1 x 15 cm artworks, printed on aluminium dibond and framed in black wood or aluminium.
